What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Post Knott Lodge is widely praised for its luxurious accommodations, stunning panoramic views of Lake Windermere, and excellent amenities like a cinema room and gym, making it ideal for groups and families. However, some guests have experienced significant issues with communication and access, as well as problems with hot water, detracting from an otherwise beautiful stay.
"We enjoyed a wonderful long weekend at Post Knott Lodge in March. As far as luxury goes you’d be hard pushed to find a nicer property on the lake. The house occupies a lovely private location on the hillside overlooking the lake. It really does have everything you need and there are some nice welcoming touches from the hosts such as Tony’s chocolate, popcorn and other tasty snacks. There is a well equipped kitchen with two ovens (if you want to host a chef). The bedrooms on the first and second floors are spotlessly clean and furnished to an excellent standard, each with unique features, affording wonderful views of the lake. The panoramic view is even better in the dining area and the doors open out onto a gorgeous patio with ample seating and sun loungers. There is a BBQ area if the mood should take you and a well equipped gym and sauna. We particularly enjoyed the cinema room which is very comfortable to lounge in. Highly Recommended."

"Stunning 6 bedroom property nestled in the hills overlooking lake Windermere. Brought our 5 adult children and their partners and my father in law. Beautifully designed and appointed property with nice touches from the owner.
Highly recommend for a group or large family to enjoy this super location.
We were fortunate to witness several fly bys and a red deer is seen in the neighbours garden most days !!
There are a few things I’d alter if it were mine like a hot tub and extra comfy seating outside but other than that it’s pretty darn perfect.
We were blessed with three hot hot days, one average and three wet days; so fairly typical British weather.
Comfy beds and bed linen which was appreciated and love the eco friendly products.
Improve with a hot tub and more outdoor seating for 12 and you’d have a firm ten!!"

"We were a family of 7 excited to stay at Post Knott Lodge, but the experience was extremely disappointing. Despite messaging the host one week in advance, we never received the access code for check-in. When we arrived, we had no way to enter the property and got absolutely no response from the host — not even at the time of check-in.
Left with no other option, we had to drive all the way back to Manchester at 10 PM. Not a single apology or acknowledgment of the situation from the host — complete radio silence throughout the entire stay.
On top of that, there was no hot water on the day of checkout, so we couldn’t shower before leaving. One of the showers in the rooms didn’t work at all.
It’s a shame, because the house itself is beautiful, but these major issues and the complete lack of communication made the vacation stressful and unpleasant. I would not recommend staying here unless the management seriously improves."
