My first ever visit to RSPB Coombes Valley Nature Reserve. I was blown away, it’s such a stunning little place. We counted 9 singing male pied flys but was told there could be you 20 males in territory in the woods. #wildlifephotography #wildlife #nature #naturephotography #birds #photography ##birdphotography #bird #birdsofinstagram #naturelovers #photooftheday #animal #wild #canon #birdwatchin...

What have we got here? We think it’s a sparrowhawk, they’ve been knocking around since we moved in and are steadily coming further into the holding. #rspb #staffordshiremoorlands #rspbcoombesvalley #sparrowhawk

This Wren singing whilst carrying a caterpillar AND doing a bum wiggle was the first thing I saw when I visited @rspb Coombes Valley reserve this week 🥰 ⁣ ⁣ I didn't even get into the reserve as it was sat on the entrance gate post! It sat there singing its heart out obligingly just long enough for me to take this video through my binoculars with my phone. ⁣ ⁣ We then left it behind to feed its yo...

Reviews Summary

Visitors praise RSPB Coombes Valley for its beautiful, peaceful woodland setting and engaging play trail for children. The opportunity for birdwatching and discovering fungi is a significant draw. Some reviewers noted issues with trail signage and occasional diversions, but overall, it's considered a worthwhile visit for nature lovers.

"On a lovely sunny Sunday afternoon Coombes valley is a beautiful place to relax. Woodland trails take you up and down the valley, there are plenty of benches to rest as you explore and discover wooden castles, nature musical instruments, bridges across a gentle river. The visitor centre has toilets which open until late. Parking is £4 which can be paid in the visitor centre, when open, by phone or in the honesty box. Watch out for the cockerel, he's aggressive. We didn't see him. For us, one of the bridges was closed on our return leg so we were sent on a diversion that took us up a hillside and then back down taking us a long way out of our way and then back the way we came. The signage was not very good but hopefully this won't be the case when you go! We will go back as there's a lot more exploring to do. Well worth a visit."

"A beautiful, spectacular woodland, we thoroughly enjoyed our walk around here. The temptation is to keep walking, but it's so worth while stopping and spending time looking at the nature in front of you, listening out for all the birds, seeing if you can glimpse them."

Philippa Done

"Well, I wish I found this sooner, it's stunning! Take a walk out here with the kids .. they have a play trail.. it's so lovely! Section of it which dogs can't walk through but other routes for dog walkers.. honestly what a stunning place.. kids loved it 😍.. definitely get your outdoor shoes on and take a walk around here..
Toilets near the carpark, benches to eat snacks before going on a walk"
