"If you go down the towpath on the downstream (Thames) side of the bridge and look back you can see the old granite early 19C bridge under the rebuilt early 20C bridge, a case of the newer widened structure utilising the old one. The history plaque on the gauging dock side of the bridge is worth reading if you are interested in the history of the area."
