What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise the Brompton Oratory for its breathtaking Baroque Revival architecture and opulent interior, often describing it as a hidden gem. The musical performances and the serene atmosphere for worship are frequently highlighted as exceptional experiences. Some note that it can get crowded during peak times or services, and photography rules should be observed.
"This was easily one of the most stunning churches I’ve seen in all of London, there is a rich history behind the church and its connection to St John Henry Newman. The side chapels, statuary, and sacred artwork are phenomenal. My wife and I popped in for a morning Low Mass according to the 1962 Missal which was celebrated at the altar in the beautiful Lady Chapel. I was completely in awe of the architecture and furnishings. The sacred architecture and art all enhance the beauty of the liturgy and it truly feels ethereal."
James Lu
"One of my favourite churches in the country, let alone the city. Beautiful architecture steeped in history and I am glad I could finally make my long awaited visit, especially after the news of John Henry Newman set to be declared a Doctor of the Church. Took a non-Catholic friend too because you simply can’t let these marvels escape the eyes of another. The massive interior is deceptive from the outside and the Baroque style is a work of art! I will surely be returning soon to hear the Tridentine Mass."

"Very impressive building. Huge Catholic church with enormous dome and multiple side chapels. A very impressive space. Definitely worth popping in to see if you are in the area."
