Reviews Summary

Broughton House and Garden is praised for its beautiful, Japanese-inspired garden and the significant art collections of E.A. Hornel, including his work and extensive Robert Burns memorabilia. Visitors appreciate the peaceful atmosphere and the insights provided by knowledgeable volunteers. However, some find the house itself less engaging than the garden, and the garden's uneven paths may pose challenges for some.

"Wonderful place to visit. Had seen some of his work at the Glasgow Art Galleries.
As well as his work there other artists work
Garden on a sunny day was glorious.. flower scents and butterflies!"

Harry Kielty

"Home of the artist E A Hornel well worth a visit. The painting in the main hall are beautiful with so much detail.
The garden is well matured, the corner with seating overlooking the estuary is a hidden gem."

Enid Moore

"If I have to be honest I was slightly disappointed by Broughton house. Very little of the house itself is on display, however I did enjoy the art gallery and artists studios. The gardens are beautiful but as it's the gardens of a town house, they don't take long to see. If you're in the area worth a visit, but if you're going out if your way for a visit I would suggest that you add on Threave House and Gardens which are most definitely worth a visit."
