What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Bury Hill Iron Age Fort for its lovely walks and the charming presence of grazing ponies and highland cows. The availability of refreshments at the car park is a welcome amenity. However, some feel the fort could benefit from better maintenance, with overgrown bushes obscuring views and a lack of historical interpretation.
"Nice place, good amount of parking. Public toilets by car park. Nice walk, trees and brush surround most of the earthwork ramparts, so not much in ways of view of surrounding area. You can walk around and get good views outside the fort. Ponies and highland cows grazing inside the fort. Popular for dog walkers."

"Really nice walk. Lots of different paths to take around the site. Lovely views and cows make it a nice place to visit. Just wish dog owners would read and adhere to keeping their dogs on leads what with the cows."

"A lovely stop off to blow away the cobwebs around the hillfort's circular walk. A nice place for walking the dog too though extra consideration is needed as there is cattle and horses roaming freely. There aren't any interpretation boards telling you about the history which is a shame. The last time I visited was about ten years ago when I flew a kite in the fort and it got stuck in a tree. Kite flying not advised."
