What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Bury St Edmunds station is generally seen as a functional and convenient transport hub, praised for its wide platforms and helpful staff. However, some visitors have noted a decline in service with the replacement of the ticket office by a cafe, and one review mentioned an unpleasant encounter with a staff member. The town itself is widely appreciated for its beauty, market, and historical sites.
"A pretty station with a wide platform and tracks. Feels like an old warehouse or some sort of religious building high much of BSE feels like actually.
Helpful staff and no barriers which makes for quicker egress, especially if you may kiss your train otherwise.
Taxis conveniently located outside and a massive Tesco just round the corner and other transport services too.
Has a toilet as well."

"Putin seemingly working for British Rail
I wanted some simple advice and was greeted by the arrogant member of staff rolling his eyes and talking to my family like we were some sort of simpletons. I was lied to and told the station doesn't have a Ticket Office when there is a couple of other staff members who actually help with questions here, but its apparent he doesn't like to assist or help anyone.
I think he has problems as he was looking at us strange. I have the impression he doesn't like diversity. I wouldn't mind, but the station wasn't busy on the Tuesday morning we visited.
The member of staff has a striking resemblance to that of President Putin if you have the misfortune of having to deal with him."

"Perfectly functional station with waiting rooms and wide platforms but suffered a major downgrade when the ticket office was replaced with a superfluous cafe. Previously 5 stars."
