What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Carnmoney Cemetery is viewed as a beautiful and peaceful place for reflection, particularly for those visiting family graves or notable figures like Alex Higgins. However, some visitors have expressed disappointment with the cemetery's maintenance, noting areas of overgrowth and long grass, which detracts from its overall tidiness.
"I was up visiting my grandparents grave today 😢 bittersweet moment 😔. They were Christians ✝️ so I know were their souls will be. I would have given the cemetery 5 stars as its such a beautiful 😍 ✨ peaceful place but it was overgrown with weeds. The grass is so long all up round the graves and yes everyone keeps their own area tidy but for this time off year the cemetery always has the grass cut ✂️ and the weeds around the graves seen too. I'm so disappointed 😞 at this. We had a drive round to see if maybe they just hadn't got round 🤔 to our part but no none of it was done. Not happy 😒 😕."

Navigating Carnmoney Cemetery
While the cemetery offers a sense of peace and reflection, its upkeep can be a point of concern for some. One reviewer noted that certain areas were affected by weeds and long grass, which detracted from the overall aesthetic. This suggests that while individual plots may be well-maintained by families, the general grounds maintenance might not always meet everyone's expectations, especially during certain times of the year.
Despite these considerations, the cemetery's location in Newtownabbey, County Antrim, Northern Ireland, makes it a significant site for those with ancestral connections or those interested in local history. Its serene atmosphere, when the grounds are well-kept, provides a quiet space for remembrance and contemplation.

Persistence and using a combination of search terms, including 'burial records Carnmoney Cemetery', can significantly improve your chances of success in your research.
