Reviews Summary

Kew Gardens is widely praised for its stunning botanical collections, beautiful landscapes, and impressive glasshouses. The Children's Garden is a major hit with families, offering interactive play. However, some visitors have noted concerns about the maintenance of certain areas, particularly in the Children's Garden, and the cost of entry for special events like Christmas at Kew can be high.

"Okay, it's the children's garden. But as an adult I absolutely loved wandering around here. I mean, we're all big kids at heart, right !?! Split into different areas, there is loads to see, smell, touch. Also a play area. Right next to the found hall and toilets too.."

B Moffat

"A fun, interactive space to climb, run, jump and explore everything that a plant needs to grow.

Based in a natural setting the size of 40 tennis courts, children can explore all the things plants need to grow in our Children's Garden, designed for children from 2 to 12 years old.

Over 100 mature trees are spread over this beautiful landscape, with hidden treasures and adventures around every corner, leading to a 4m high canopy walk wrapped around a 200-year-old oak in the heart of the Children's Garden.

No pre-booking required – all visitors are welcome to come and go throughout the day until one hour before the Gardens close."

Barry Garnham

"Kew’s Children’s Garden could be an absolute gem — if only it were properly maintained. Unfortunately, there’s always something broken. Whether it’s parts of the climbing structures, interactive features, or safety elements, it feels like upkeep is just not a priority.

And the water play area? Let’s be honest — it’s been completely out of service for two full years. That’s the entire duration of my membership. No explanation, no visible effort to repair it, just a sad, dry zone that still gets promoted as a highlight. That’s misleading at best.

For a place associated with the prestige of Kew Gardens, this kind of neglect is honestly baffling. Families pay for quality — not for constant disappointment.

Step it up. The kids (and the paying adults) deserve better."
