What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about the stunning panoramic views from Ivinghoe Beacon and the excellent conditions for kite flying. The presence of the gliding club adds a unique spectacle. While the natural beauty and open spaces are highly praised, some note that public toilet facilities close early, and certain paths can be challenging for those with mobility issues.
"We went to this open space in the last month for a day out and picnic. We also took our kite as this place is very famous for flying kites. The National Trust visiting centre is a very neat and clean place with toilet facility. There is a public toilet facilities outside of the centre however, everything closed at 5 pm. In the summer, the sun sets at 9 pm and you are allowed to stay in that area without toilet felt very unpleasant. The nearby small private air field and the their tiny aircrafts are another attractive addition to the place. We enjoyed our kite flying and picnic and had a wonderful day."

"Pick your day and the views are fantastic over the Aylesbury Vale. There is always something to see - rooks, wagtails, red kites, kestrels, sparrow hawks and gliders. At the bottom of the hill is the London Gliding Club and you can see gliders being pulled up by a small plane, soaring among the clouds and then returning to ground if you are disabled there are scooters you can borrow (there are also children’s bikes). Unfortunately there are no golf buggies so if your disabled person isn’t confident enough to drive a scooter you just have to use your wheelchair. This can be a challenge as it is hilly and not all the paths are ideal. Expect the wind - ideal for kite flying (designated area) which you can buy in the shop. A great place for a bracing walk!"

"I wasn’t expecting my walk they way i got surprised because absolutely stunning area. Awesome wild nature blowing my mind away. There were people of all ages from kids to people with their mobility but all enjoying the nice summer way out in fresh and colourful fields.
I didn’t bring any outdoor game with me but people were having fun by flying kites, frisbee etc. For me i was sitting down on a bench at high hill full of wild flowers and meditating myself. Looking at the gliders and planes who were flying high. Atmosphere was so chill, calm and lovely. Best place for picnic and spend the time watching the views, grab an ice cream, coffee or tea because there’s a cafe on site. There’re toilets, picnic tables etc as well. We had a lovely walk passing by many. This area is good for a walk, run, hiking, bird watch, dog walkers or cycling. Happily and highly recommend."
