Reviews Summary

Visitors rave about the peaceful atmosphere and unique experience of walking to Rough Island at low tide. The stunning views of Strangford Lough and the opportunity for bird watching are frequently praised. Some note the causeway can be slippery and express disappointment with litter left by others.

"A beautiful little reserve you can walk around the island when the tide is out. The path weaves like a ribbon out to the island. The island and surrounding lough is home to many bird species. Its a wonderful place for a walk, to sit ans reflect and listen to nature's choir. Perfect to escape from the daily grind, this place resets your mind and feeds your soul.
PLEASE PUT LITTER IN THE BIN, RIGHT IN THE BIN (the gulls here are sneaky and will pull litter out to feed on scraps)
The toilets are open about 8am to 6pm, really clean and the bins up here are emptied regularly."

The Travelling Pilchards

It's not a long walk, but the scenery is refreshing and calming, making it a great little escape into nature."

"Lovely peaceful place great place to walk the dog also looks like a great fishing spot !!

Always check the tides as island wouldn’t be accessible at high tide"
