Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise Crewe Heritage Centre for its passionate volunteers, unique exhibits like the APT-P, and interactive signal box experiences. It's a highly recommended spot for rail enthusiasts of all ages, offering a nostalgic and engaging look at railway history. Some note its smaller size and limited opening hours, suggesting it could benefit from more support to thrive.

"Excellent place with some great exhibits and enthusiastic volunteers. Loved being able to walk through the APT-P, sitting in first and second class, the cab, and viewing the buffet, replete with manky British Rail sandwiches!

Strange opening times though (weekends and bank holidays and Wednesdays in school holidays), and surprisingly few visitors. This place needs more support!"

"If you love memories of the British Railway Travel and Systems this is the place to go!
The staff are really friendly and helpful, they have a functional signal box with amazing assistants to guide you on how to use them and learn about them. Also it's the home of the APT-P which you can get into the cab of.
And also a lovely example of freightliner class 90. A must see if your passing Crewe!"

Liam Twyford

"An excellent museum of more recent railway trains.

Go back to the 1970s and go in the APT (Advanced Passenger Train). This was the prototype of other fast modern trains (the Pendolino for example).

You can sit in the driving seat of a number of fairly recent diesel and electric locomotives.

Signaling is the core of railway travel and there are signal boxes of various generations to watch operate (or operate yourself).

Some fine model railways compete the experience.

It suits young and not so young railway enthusiasts."
