"This is a fascinating place to visit and worth the visit for the views out to sea. Dunbar Battery was built to defend Dunbar. It was never used for that purpose. At one time there was a hospital built to serve infectious diseases. It served during the Word Wars. At some point after it fell into disrepair and the roof blew off in a storm. The hospital was destroyed and Dunbar Battery was abandoned. Thankfully, it was restored and we can enjoy the views. You will also discover a table listing some of the vessels lost at sea. I am certainly glad I came for a look."

"Sadly, little remains of Dunbar's glorious past. Despite rebuilding the castle and ramparts three times, Dunbar eventually fell into disrepair. What remains is a fishing village. Crayfishing is now an important occupation."
