What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors find the Explosion Museum a focused and well-organized experience, particularly for those interested in naval firepower. While some note it's on the smaller side, its quality content and helpful staff are frequently praised. The scenic water taxi ride and on-site cafe add to the positive overall impression.
"We got the Ultimate ticket from the Historic Naval docks, and this includes the Explosion Museum in the ticket - as well as the boat ride to get to it from the Portsmouth side! The boat rides were not as frequent as the one to the Submarine museum, but it was enough time to wonder the museum and get some snacks and drink in the cafe before heading back.
The museum itself was interesting although a lot less 'explosive' than the name suggests as I think myself and the kids were perhaps expecting more noise and hands on things / interactivity. Lots and lots of information here to take in, as well as the history of the building itself.
The explosion museum also included a smaller museum nearby (Night Hunters), which again was interesting but not particulaly massive.
I think it would be fair to say I probably enjoyed this museum more than the kids... but they did enjoy the boat rude back and fourth!"

"Good museum if a little small.
As the content is quite focused it's worth checking if it's for you before making the trek but if it is for you, it's probably the best in class.
All organised and thoroughly laid out telling a story.
Pop over to the powder monkey pub before you leave for a decent pint and scotch egg."
