Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise the Brecon Beacons for their breathtaking natural beauty, from the iconic Pen y Fan summit to the serene glacial lakes. The challenging hikes are rewarded with spectacular panoramic views, making it a top destination for outdoor enthusiasts. However, the popularity means car parks and trails can get extremely crowded, especially on weekends, and the unpredictable mountain weather requires careful preparation.

"A great mountain range with two lakes and many walking routes including the easy to follow Ridgeway walk taking in the main summits. Beautiful views that can be enjoyed on sunny days or those times when the sky is full of drama.

Parking available in a few places, all depends how far you want to walk and what route you want to take. A circular walk that takes in the summits and lakes is my recommendation."

Kevin Arscott (The Walking Kev)

"802m high, it’s quite a hike to get up here but it’s a well maintained footpath. Amazing panoramic views from up here on a clear day. There’s also a little stone wind shelter (roofless) to sit in when the weather’s or so good."

Chris Gledhill

"Reasonably easy walking access on the upper beacons way in good conditions. Exposed mountain (802m) conditions means that care should be taken though.
Great views over Llyn y Fan Fawr and walkable to Llyn y Fan Fach.
Can be accessed from the car park at Llyn y Fan Fach or from the Swansea Valley Road."
