Come with me on one of my bucket list trips to the Farne Islands with @billyshielsboats ⛴️ I have wanted to take this trip for so long, and it was so much better than I could have ever imagined. I was blown away by the Farne Islands and the biodiversity of them. I have visited places before to see migratory seabirds like puffins, but no where as incredible as this 🧡 I strongly encourage anybody...

Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently rave about the unforgettable wildlife encounters on the Farne Islands, particularly the close-up views of puffins and seals. The boat trips are described as well-organized and enjoyable, with knowledgeable guides. While some visitors experience the infamous 'bird poop,' it's often seen as a memorable part of the wild charm. The sheer abundance and proximity of the wildlife make it a must-visit for nature lovers.

"Visited in early July and had an absolutely unforgettable experience! The Farne Islands are a paradise for wildlife lovers – puffins, Arctic terns, gannets, shags – all just a few meters away. Summer is the best time for birdwatching, especially during the breeding season when the cliffs and skies are full of activity.

The boat trip was smooth and well-organized, with knowledgeable and friendly guides who truly care about nature. On the way to the islands, I was incredibly lucky to see a pod of dolphins swimming alongside our boat – pure magic!

Also, fair warning: I got pooped on by birds not once, but twice! Locals say it means good luck – and honestly, it just made the day even more memorable. Bring a hat, wear something washable, and embrace the wild charm of this special place. Highly recommended!"

"Lovely place, we went with Billy Shiel's boats. We first had to get a ticket from their kiosk on the harbour front and go to the neighbouring National Trust kiosk, and pay £15 per person to land on the Farne Islands. The National Trust staff told us that we needed to take a hat to stop the Terns dive bombing us. The boat took us round the outer Farne Islands, showing us seals, puffins and shags. The boat then landed on inner Farne island, to the see the nesting Terns, puffins and lots of different bird species. We were there for an hour, and took a picnic to pass the time. There were basic toilets on the island, and an information hut and picnic tables near the lighthouse."

Robin Hoole

"What a wonderful place! The boat ride out, around and back from the islands was a delight from start to finish. Amazing to see all the bird life, and plenty of seals hanging out near the shore when we got out at Longstone - Grace Darling's lighthouse home."
