Reviews Summary

Visitors praise the Festival Theatre Edinburgh for its spacious and comfortable seating, excellent sightlines, and grand atmosphere, making it ideal for major productions like ballet and musicals. However, some note issues with rude staff, smokers congregating outside, and the general difficulty and expense of parking in Edinburgh.

"Great theatre in the heart of Edinburgh.
I watched The Funny Widow.
I had never been to a theatre before where one can enjoy vegan ice cream whilst watching the spectacle!
All in all a phenomenal experience! See you next time!"

"Decent theatre but they advertised seats as at the end but they turned out to be boxed in by audio booth. When we moved (plenty spare seats) - steward and female manageress last night were really rude. Also they need to manage smokers who congregate outside at intervals. Really grim to have to put up with that when you're trying to get some cool fresh air."

Josie MacDougall

"I saw a production of Matthew Bourne’s Swan Lake at the theatre and what a great venue to see it in! Seats are spacious and sight lines wonderful! Of course the ballet was magnificent!"

Buses are frequent and stop close to the theatre on Nicolson Street. Reddit

If driving is unavoidable, options include the NCP car park on Holyrood Road, which involves a short uphill walk, or pay-and-display street parking on streets like George Square or Richmond Place. Arriving early is key if you opt for street parking. Some suggest using park-and-ride facilities on the outskirts of Edinburgh and completing the journey by bus. Reddit
