Reviews Summary

Visitors praise the Grange-over-Sands Promenade for its beautiful, sweeping views across Morecambe Bay and its peaceful, accessible atmosphere. The well-maintained path, flower borders, and proximity to the town's amenities are frequently highlighted as positives. However, some note the lack of traditional beach activities and the presence of midges.

"A lovely, peaceful walk with sweeping views across the saltmarsh, runnels and mudflats of Morecambe Bay towards the Lake District fells and the distant Pennines. I accessed it by walking up the Main Street from the railway station, crossing a car park just after the Coffee Pot café, then going under a bridge and up a gently sloping ramp to the promenade. It's easy walking along a level, well maintained, and wheelchair accessible tarmac path. The railway line runs alongside the promenade, separating it from the busy Main Street. Free of traffic (though cycling is allowed), this scenic walk is obviously popular with dog walkers, and it has lots of benches and a small picnic area. The flower borders and rockeries, well maintained by volunteers, were really beautiful. There's a children's play area further along the prom, with climbing apparatus and swings. A nice place to enjoy a relaxing stroll!"

Valerie Hinchliffe

"Nice walk, dogs on leads, soft-floor playground and a lovely view across the bay. NB, Bailey Lane railway crossing is padlocked at the moment (long-running Network Rail dispute) so you'll have to use the underpass by the Commodore Inn and the missus'd need heart of Baycliff limestone to forswear a weary traveller his victuals after such a divagnation; we weren't in such a rush when you then spent the best part of an hour over the road in Davenports—because a good IPA is nothing compared to a good overview of the Tuzzi autumn-winter collection, obviously. Che sorpresa!"

"It's a nice place to have a stroll in my wheelchair. Wide tarmac surface and beautiful scenic views across Morecombe bay. Just beware of flying midges that seem to have a habit of hovering around."
