What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Toppesfield Bridge for its historical significance and peaceful riverside setting, making it a lovely spot for walks and picnics. While the muddy conditions and lack of nearby amenities are noted, the natural beauty and extensive walking trails are consistently highlighted as major draws, especially for dog owners.
"This place is old and beautiful. The bridge is one of the oldest bridges still in use in Britain.
When we went the river was at full flood, so no ducks, swans and moorhens etc., but usually there are many at this very peaceful place.
Two or three convenient picnic benches are great for picnics.
The picture was taken in winter and everything was very muddy and cold."
Gillian Emmett
"Great place to walk the dog, there are plenty of public footpaths and permissive paths so you can walk for as little as 30 minutes or of course hours using this as a base. The sandy lane to the west side of the bridge (turn right as you cross from the town side) is free parking and from there you can walk along the riverbank then up past the playing fields then up round the corn fields and back down past Holbecks house.
I would suggest you use an App like Komoot as google maps doesn't have all the public footpaths (yet)."
