What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors find Hazlehurst Junction a fascinating and unique spot, particularly appreciating the ingenious engineering of the aqueduct and locks. It's a great location for canal enthusiasts and those interested in industrial heritage. However, many note that the paths can become extremely muddy after rain, requiring appropriate footwear.
"An interesting section of canal. The Leek branch joined the main canal to Etruria just beyond the ornate black and white bridge. If you turn left you can follow it where it doubles back parallel to the lower level, and after a sharp left turn it goes over the Hazelhurst aqueduct. This section is very muddy in wet weather as the path is not a hard surface, just grass"
Roy Chadwick
"Weird and interesting layout of canals here! One branch of the Caldon Canal crosses above another, then the lower branch rises up through three locks until they are at the same level, and the branches join at Hazlehurst Junction a short distance away."
