What are the best less known beaches near London?
Within 1hr 30 mins drive? Could stretch to 2 but prefer closer. After water and a bit of sand/stone. Have two weeks off coming up and happy to drive around on my own and see some places. Thanks

Sandy beach near London?
Are there any sandy beaches near London that we can make a day trip of? From an earlier post, Brighton was a top suggestion among day trips from London. Does it have a sandy beach as well? If not, are there other places we could go to. We are a family of four with 2 kids <11…
Good spot for seaside hikes 2-3 hours from North London?
My girlfriend and I fancy a day trip to the seaside this weekend. Get up early, drive a couple hours and do 3-4 hours of hiking through the countryside & enjoy views of the sea. Preferably some beaches that we can let the dog off on. We went to Mersea Island in Essex last…

Where should I live in Kent?
I have a new job starting in Canterbury so need to be able to commute there (car), can’t work from home. I live way up north currently so I haven’t been able to have a nosy around yet. I can’t tell if places are nice or not because everyone in England says every place is shit…

Herne Bay Beach is praised for its family-friendly atmosphere, clean promenade, and mix of sandy and pebbly shores perfect for shell collecting and crabbing. Visitors appreciate the peaceful vibe, seaside amusements, and scenic views, especially at sunset. Some note that parking is paid, but overall, it's considered a lovely spot for a relaxing day out.
"Well recommend this beach for stress free family fun, friends day out, motorbike meets or a isolated day out. Nice large car park as well as street parking, unfortunately you have to pay for both, unless your on a motorbike then park infront of the old clock tower for free. A nice walkway with gardens, childrens play area, grand/bandstand with public toilets, sandy beach as well as a pebbly beach, pier, amusements and restaurants/ ice cream places, cafes etc all stretched along the front. It was nice and quiet and the staff in every pub etc i visited were lovley.
A rarity nowadays but they also had cold water showers on the beachfront. Dog friendly, wheelchair friendly."

"One of the best beaches in Kent, even though it's tiny pebbles and shingles, it's easy to walk through, the promenade is clean and toilets in strategic places, good food outlets, good for long walks, must visit when in Herne bay,"
Alfie Fernandes

The beach is clean, you can find beautiful stones and shells. And the sea view is simply mesmerising - especially at sunset. A great place to relax and enjoy nature!"
