What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Holme Pierrepont for its excellent watersports facilities and fun activities like white water rafting and paddleboarding, with many highlighting the engaging instructors. However, some guests have expressed disappointment with the cleanliness of the toilet and shower blocks and the lack of clear pitch demarcation on the campsite.
"We camped on the site, which is a decent 20 minute steady walk to the Lake for Paddle boarding and White water rafting. I recommend booking in advance as the place is really popular.
The camp site is basic but has electric hook ups and there is a toilet and shower block, play park, shop, and loads of open spaces for kids to play.
The watersports themselves were great, and decent value for the time we got.
On the saturday we hired paddleboards and a kayak to keep us all entertained, it was great fun and a nice way to cool off in the heat!
We hired a raft on the Sunday and I'd like to say a special mention to Sam the Instructor who was great! He kept us all entertained whilst teaching us how to be safe on the water. And overall he made the experience one to remember for the kids and the adults! Well done Sam, highly recommended!
My daughter also had a go on the Sky Tykes trail which she loved, worth mentioning it’s attached to a cafe selling food & sweet treats, ice creams & waffles, and the odd lager & cider to cool off!
Sam also provided knowledge of the wider area including a mention for the Poppy & Pint pub which we visited and also enjoyed!
In all we had a really pleasant sunny weekend and I would recommend a visit."

"The site itself is lovely. But it's unfortunately let down by a few points.
The pitches first of all aren't clear. When we arrived, the people pitched next to us had parked on our pitch, due to the lack of zoning.
We used the shop, which is quite expensive but exactly what you'd expect from a captive audience, but the woman running the shop was rude and clearly uninterested.
The rules on keeping the noise down were not enforced, with the people next to us watching their television rather loudly until midnight both nights of our stay.
The biggest issue we had however was the toilet and shower blocks. They aren't cleaned often enough, in fact I believe they are only cleaned once a day, and very badly at that. They absolutely stank, I'd hate to have been pitched near by as you can smell them as you're walking toward them. The site state they've recently refurbished the block, they haven't, they have simply added another block outside the existing block, which really needs totally refurbishing.
It's a shame there were the issues with cleanliness, as the site itself is beautiful and really well located."

"Had a great time white water rafting with a group of friends, haven’t done it before so was a bit apprehensive but it was lots of fun! Our experienced guide Liam was first rate, explained everything well and helped us get the best out of the rapids, 5 star! Would definitely recommend and looking at when we can return already!"
