"Nice route into/out of Huddersfield town centre. Broad paths and access. Great for walking a dog, running or cycling (but there are a few gates to navigate. Mostly open and feels like a safe environment in the day time with the amount of people using it."

"Of all the many northern canals I have walked, this was in parts, outrageously difficult. Mainly going from the Calder Hebble Navigation to the start of the Huddersfield Broad Canal, quite a lot had no tow path and in 3 spots in close proximity the to path had fallen into the waterway. However, once walking on the canal after the transition and Junction it got much better. The canal has decent views of the Huddersfield railway line and has a few disused railway viaducts. I walked from Salterhebble Top Lock to Huddersfield Town down the canal. If your local you'll know a better route However iu struggled a lot as I like to follow the watercourse."
