What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Iford Manor Gardens are widely praised for their breathtaking beauty, particularly the spectacular wisteria in May, and the serene, Italianate atmosphere. Visitors love the artistic design, tranquil ambiance, and the excellent cafe. Some find the entrance fee a bit high for the garden size and note the steep paths and narrow access roads.
"I stopped off on way back from my degon trip I've visited here awhile ago with family who live in Bath. It's near Bradford on Avon which is worth a visit and there is free parking, not sure if you can see house but gardens are lovely , weather was good, free parking, great views of hills. Worth a visit gardens are 10 pounds and can buy some souvenirs from the entrance hut. I didn't visit the restaurant and cafe but looked good and was fairly full. If I wasn't eating in Bradford would have tried food."

"Garden was smaller than expected and terraced on a steep slope. Stonework blends nicely in with the greenery and lots of intricate sculptures somewhat faded from their former glory. You have to imagine what it must've been like in its heyday. Be nice to have some info included for £10 entrance fee. Cafe was excellent. Walled Garden salad bowl was superb."

"Visited Iford Gardens on a sunny day and it was amazing. Peaceful and quiet — no crowds or noisy young children — just tranquility! Garden slopes up behind the house and (among other thigs) has a beautiful Italian style cloister, pavilion, a wealth of statues, and elegant colonnades. It feels as if you’ve stepped into Tuscany.
New owners have also added a shady Japanese garden with pool, we saw dragon flies.
The tea room and terrace are is great, although cake is on steep side price-wise. The ticket booth has a small selection of postcards/guide book - all you need (no over-the-top gift shop).
A wonderful place for anyone who appreciates gardens.
Only downsides: it closes at 4 pm, some paths are very steep (no kids under 10 allowed) and the access roads are very narrow — so plan your trip accordingly!"
