Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise the Key Theatre for its intimate atmosphere, friendly staff, and excellent acoustics, making it a beloved local venue. While the intimate setting is a major draw, some may find it less grand than larger theatres. The pantomimes and musicals receive particularly high marks for entertainment value and audience engagement.

"This evening, I had the pleasure of watching Annie, performed by Westwood Musical Society Peterborough at the Key Theatre, and what a fantastic production it was! From the very first note, the cast brought energy, charm, and professionalism to the stage, delivering a performance that was both heartwarming and thoroughly entertaining.

Despite an unexpected fire alarm—caused by the haze effect rather than anything more dramatic—the cast and crew handled the disruption with grace, and once the show resumed, they didn’t miss a beat. The young performers playing Annie and the orphans were a joy to watch, full of enthusiasm and talent, while the adult cast brought depth and humour to their roles.

The set and costumes perfectly captured the era, and the music brought each iconic song to life beautifully. From the uplifting “Tomorrow” to the mischievous fun of “It’s a Hard Knock Life,” every number was performed with energy and passion. The chemistry between the cast members, particularly Annie and Daddy Warbucks, made for some truly touching moments.

Adding to the experience was the wonderful setting of the Key Theatre. With its intimate atmosphere and excellent acoustics, it provided the perfect space to enjoy this classic musical. The venue is a real asset to the local arts scene, offering a welcoming environment for both performers and audiences alike. The friendly staff and well-organised layout made for a comfortable enjoyable evening"

"Relatively small venue with a nice feel. Well kept, comfortable seating. We were here to see a comedian recently, seated in Row L. We were only a couple of rows from the back, but the view was great. The sound quality was admirable and I would welcome the opportunity to hear an acoustic set or small band in the venue. The seating is tiered with steps running the length of both sides of the auditorium. Stairs are relatively shallow and a hand rail runs the full length."

Nicola Smith

"Fantastic pantomime again! We are repeat visitors and already looking to book next year! The cast and performance are spectacular and very very funny with a range of jokes that suit all ages and as usual really get the audience both kids and adults involved in the performance. The key theatre itself is superb with great facilities and staff whom are efficient and welcoming. A family of three adults and a child all had a full set of snacks and drinks for under £30 so very reasonable! Book now and don't be late to avoid disappointment. Supundedoesnt do it justice!"
