Reviews Summary

Visitors praise the South Yorkshire Aircraft Museum for its fantastic collection of aircraft and the opportunity to get up close with iconic planes and cockpits. The friendly and knowledgeable volunteers are a highlight, making the experience welcoming and informative. While photography can be challenging due to maximized hangar space, the overall value and engaging exhibits make it a highly recommended visit.

"What a fantastic collection! Being able to be up close and personal with so many iconic aircraft makes a lovely change. Went on a weekend and the team there were so friendly and welcoming!

Definitely going back on a few weeks!"

Dan Howarth

"A lovely, friendly, reasonably priced aviation museum with a lot of aircraft, cockpits, and associated artefacts.

An all too brief whistlestop lunch break was had here.

Aside from the aircraft and exhibits, the first thing I noticed after a very friendly Yorkshire welcome was a staff (volunteer, no doubt) diligently cleaning the public areas. A good omen of a well looked after collection.

Another observation of thoughtfulness is the travelling Scout helicopter cockpit that is fully accessible to wheelchair users.

There are no less than 8 Canberra cockpits - one inside and seven in a line under cover.

Set around the nearby Lakeside area, it's slightly circuitous but easily accessed from the M18.

The hangar space is used to it's maximum so photography may be tricky for the coniseur.

There is a sizeable display dedicated to the 1982 Falklands conflict.

Some cockpits are accessible for children and adults alike.

The shop ( entry and exit point) is well-stocked, and although I didn't have time, there is a tea room.

It was good to see they are nurturing young volunteer enthusiasts too, the Mum of one young lad spoke to me about their Buccaneer cockpit restoration project 'XN979' (check out Instagram)

Don't forget to GiftAid!"

Graham Hall

"A must to visit, it's not the biggest but it has the most on display than any other museum of this type I've ever been to.
The displays are fantastic. The only one thing I could say is for wheelchair access it's ok, but you would have to bring someone with you because you could get stuck."
