Where did all the public pools or 'lidos' go?
It got me thinking. I recently relocated to Germany and almost every town and even some villages, at least where I live, have excellent quality outdoor pools and bathing areas surrounded by parks and green spaces. Great facilities, affordable, run by the local councils, and cost…
Whatever happened to lidos?
Just seen yet another tragic news story regarding someone trying to cool off in the heat.. So what did actually happen to the lidos (outdoor pools)? My late grandparents would mention there was at least 3 or 4 lidos in and around our town and there would be many more dotted…

Lots of walking paths around the lake and through the woods.
Woodland walks
Any woodland walks/cycling trails amongst trees in the Harrow area? I can barely find any. The Spinney Woodland Walks are very small and boring. Preferably need water features but I am aware that they are pretty much non-existent here. The only one I can find is the newly…

"The beach is nice but doesn't give the vibe as a beach at the seaside. The sand is nice and you can find places to eat, have a drink, or have a picnic on the sand. Children have a play area and the area is dog friendly. The lake is surrounded by the Ruislip Woods which offers nice walk in the shades of the trees. You can walk around the lake on a nice footpath or hop on the mini train. Tickets for the train can be bought at both ends of the line. Next to the Ruislip Lido Railway station is a nice green picnic area with tables. The car park is expensive. From the main car park is a 10 minutes walk to the beach."

"Lovely place to enjoy with the family. Kids have lots of fun. Can take the train to the beach or walk from the car parks.
A nice restaurant with some good food options. Toilets available. Would recommend taking the train there but walk back so not limited on the time. Last train back around 5pm."
