"My wife and I brought our very young son on a visit today for a few hours using a free admission following our purchase of tickets earlier in the year (we love that this is a thing you offer)!
With it being a term date, there was very few other people around and enjoyed strolling around at our own pace to see all the animals.
There was a few things that would have made the visit a bit more enjoyable.
Firstly, the app for the zoo is very well built and easy to navigate. However, it would be helpful to have an up to date opening/closing time for shops and eateries. This was due to us attending on a term day where the zoo is understandably on minimum staff, so most of the eateries were closed or on shorter hours. We walked to a few places hoping they were open, but found they were closed on arrival. Some information on the app giving a day to day or live opening time status would be helpful (such as what you have displayed at the entrance exit - that we didn't notice until leaving..).
And secondly. We loved reading the information boards on the species that we were viewing, and watching the animals interact with us and eachother. However, we were left wanting to know more about the individual animals in the exhibits; what their history was with the zoo, their ages and family groups/dynamics etc. The information on the boards is great for getting an idea educationally about the species, but individual information about the animals makes it feel slightly more personal.
I apologise if the above suggestions are already in place and I have missed them on our trip. If so, please let me know so I can rectify it on our next visit! Overall, we have a lively afternoon at the zoo and will definitely be visiting again soon! Please feel free to contact me for updates about the above."
