It was great to see the sails on @melinllynon on and admire the cogs turning on a visit inside. Llynnon Mill is the only surviving working windmill on Anglesey today. In fact, it is the only example of a working mill in the whole of Wales. There are however a number of old, disused windmills across the island. Anglesey was once known as the “Granary of Wales” because the island produced more g...

"I was told about the Windmill from a colleague and that they do some really good donuts. So, I have visited and could have easily stayed the whole day. Perfect and relaxing location. Would recommend visiting."

"This is a lovely way to spend an hour. The working windmill is eye opening and thoroughly brilliant.
Walking beyond the mill, following a simple path brings you down to the Bronze Age hut exhibit. These full size replicas are fascinating, you're allowed to walk around inside them.

Once you've had your fill of history, you can pop onto Monuts and get your fill of their fantastic doughnuts. They're a bit more expensive than the dough nuts you may have had before, but they are two or three times bigger and just souch better. They even do a version of my favourite, the Boston Cream, which I heartily recommend to you, alongside the whole place."

The History and Significance of Llynnon Mill

Llynnon Mill, or Melin Llynon, stands as a testament to Anglesey's agricultural past. Built in 1775, it holds the distinction of being the only surviving working windmill in Wales. This makes it a significant historical landmark, offering a tangible connection to the methods of grain processing used for centuries. The mill's sails and internal cogs are still operational, providing a rare opportunity to witness a piece of living history in action. Instagram

Beyond the mill itself, the site features fascinating Bronze Age hut replicas. These full-size reconstructions allow visitors to step back even further in time and imagine life in ancient Wales. Walking around and inside these huts provides a unique educational experience, complementing the industrial history of the windmill. The combination of these historical elements makes Llynnon Mill a rich destination for those interested in heritage and archaeology. Reddit

The mill's historical importance is further highlighted by its status as the last of its kind. While other windmills may exist as ruins across Anglesey, Llynnon Mill is actively maintained and preserved, ensuring its story continues to be told. This dedication to preservation makes it a vital site for understanding the island's heritage and its connection to the wider Welsh landscape. Instagram
