An historic moment at Pendon Museum - A GWR Class 42XX loco built by Guy Williams glides onto the turntable in the Dartmoor scene. Whilst the turntable has always rotated, it has never (to our knowledge) had an engine drive onto, rotate and drive off it without a hitch! We hope to have this operating as a regular feature in the future.

Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise Pendon Museum for its astonishingly detailed miniature scenes and the passion of its volunteer staff. While some note it's a smaller venue, the reasonable admission and the sheer quality of the craftsmanship make it a highly recommended visit for all ages, offering a fascinating glimpse into rural life and model railways.

"Ive lived in Oxfordshire for 15 years and never come across this place. Its really rather good. Especially good for small or big children who like model trains. Run by an army of volunteers who do an excellent job. The model building workshop that they ran today was excellent, some very kind gentlemen spent about 30 minutes with my children helping them build a model scene."

James Doggett

"What absolutely fascinating place, much bigger than imagined, you can see the pure love and skills of the staff that lovingly look after the place and help each visitor understand what the museum is all about. Highly recommended. Always find something new to look at when we visit. Reasonable entrance fee too"

Wei Hoang

"A small museum with 3 very detailed model railway layouts, with a long history. Huge amounts of landscaping. Small car park. Tea room. Stairs to some of the displays."
