Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about Hauxley Wildlife Discovery Centre as a free, charity-based gem offering excellent birdwatching opportunities from numerous well-placed hides. The charming cafe is a highlight, providing delicious food and great service. While dogs are restricted from the reserve and centre, the adjacent beach offers a dog-friendly alternative.
"Got there for 9am and managed to get round nearly all the hides which were mostly unoccupied. Saw lots of different birds. The hides are situated in different spots so you’ve got different views and birds from each one. It’s about a mile to walk around all the hides and back to the entrance/cafe. I think there’s about 8 or 9 hides each with its own distinct view.
Car parking was £2 all day. Entrance is free, note no dogs allowed inside the cafe or the reserve.
Cafe was great. Enjoyed a panini and a cappuccino.
Can’t wait to go back."

"Nice quiet sandy beach. Great for walking dogs and having a picnic. Unfortunately dogs not allowed in the wildlife discovery centre but the beach made up for it."
David Buckton
"Wonderful location and ideal spot to explore the coast too but signs could have been clearer especially if you've parked outside the gate area. You have to go through the visitor centre to access wetland walks. Do stop in the lovely cafe."
