Many appreciate the accessibility via car, while others enjoy the rewarding hike. It's considered a peaceful spot for reflection and a prime location for photography.
"A beautiful monument in Greenock commemorating the Free French Navy who, while France were occupied in WW2, were stationed here. The Cross of Lorraine on an anchor is a fitting symbol to those heroes, a symbol that is above all of Greenock and Gourock.
It is a wonderful place to come up, and have a seat. Watch the view whether it is sunny or cloudy, day or night, even rainy (if you ave a car, that is…) I come here often, just to have a little peace, or when I want to walk into the town. It is a nice wee journey.
If you ever visit Inverclyde, visit Lyle Hill."

"This is absolutely breathtaking, views over the water and a stunning memorial, only around 40 minutes from Glasgow, although it's on top of a hill, you can indeed drive straight up to it, from photos 📸 and breathtaking views over the river Clyde, absolutely recommend visiting it in Gourock, and the beach ⛱️ play park, etc at bottom of the hill, plenty for all the family.. or solo and couples."
