Reviews Summary

Visitors appreciate Lynmouth Beach for its unique shingle and pebble landscape, ideal for rock pooling and skimming stones. The nearby Lynmouth Cliff Railway is a major highlight, offering stunning views and a historical experience. While some wish for sandy shores, the picturesque setting and dog-friendly nature are frequently praised.

"A nice little beach with access being over the small white bridge or the road.
It's mostly shingle, stones, and even rocks.
It does, however, offer plenty of benches near the edge, plus a cafe.
When the tide is half out, you can walk past the larger boulders to yet another, secluded beach.
Well-behaved dogs are welcome.
You can see Wales from the beach, fairly easily."

"A beautiful bay with steep cliffs. Mostly pebbles with some fine shingle which is lovely for playing with dogs and skimming stones but this isn't suitable for building sandcastles. There is also a view across the harbour towards the water powered railway ascending the cliff. This is a famous Victorian engineering marvel which is still working today. Tickets can be purchased and handily there is a café at the top. History with cake and a cuppa in one adventure! For keen surfers, there is an opportunity to catch some waves too 🌊"

Anna Bradshaw

"A lovely beach and dog friendly too. The Rock Hotel is right by the beach and a snack bar farther along too. Just wish it was golden sand."

This water-powered funicular railway is the highest and steepest in Britain, offering a unique and scenic journey. It operates by using the weight of water in the upper tank to counterbalance the car ascending the cliff. The views from the railway are spectacular, providing panoramic vistas of the coastline and the Bristol Channel. Instagram

Visitors often rave about the experience, describing it as a must-do when visiting the area. The railway is not just a mode of transport but an attraction in itself, blending history with breathtaking scenery. At the top, you can find a cafe, perfect for enjoying a cup of tea or a snack while taking in the views. Reddit
