What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Mabie Forest offers a pleasant escape with its walking trails and excellent mountain biking routes. Visitors appreciate the natural beauty and quiet atmosphere, though some are disappointed by limited facilities and occasional litter. Trail closures can also be a minor inconvenience.
"Mabie forest walks, pleasant and quiet. October very leafy and Autumnal.. Away from cars and noise. There are some odd picnic tables and seating around the forest, but most are in children play park at beginning. Carpark fee £3 a day. Dogs allowed, but leads and cleanup after . Toilets only in one location at the old sawmill barn. Routes of different lengths 1 mile to 7 mile. Just beware of speeding cyclists."
Robert Wallace
"Solid option in the area for mountain biking trails.
As with all managed woodland - walks and trails can be closed off (as they currently are) for felling, play park also currently closed off for same reason.
Pay for parking, no cafe facilities here like you might expect from a large managed site like this.
Toilets clean and tidy but probably because they’re so far away from the car park (not much use) - 10min walk from the bottom of the car park until the bridge gets fixed. Variety of walks, ruined for us by so many dog poo bags - there was always one in view unfortunately and with a toddler this made it a very risky walk, there were many open dog poos as well, gave up flicking them onto the side after the second one. Some bags of poo had been there a long time - nobody comes to clear them up. Not sure why dog walkers think it’s ever ok to do this!?
Anyway, in summary - could be better."

"Would make a special journey just to come here. Thought I'd start off on the blue as a warm up and to ease me in to what to expect, well I didn't expect 10.5 miles of fire road and 200 meters of single track which is actually shared with the red route. The red route was better with some technical stuff but not exciting enough that I need to go back."
