Another weekend, another bike trip round Scotland. Machir bay, isle of Islay. Cracking camp spot.
Mate and I camped on loch Indaal for a few nights years ago. Right on the other side of the bay from bruichladdich. Go up past bowmore, the distillery, and follow the tractor path to the beach. Right next to a spot marked as Billy's Bench. Would recommend it

"Incredible beach but not one for swimming 🥽😔
The wildlife nearby was amazing. Golden eagles, geese, hares etc."

"The best beach on Islay, over a mile of wide sandy beach, great for walking. Be very careful with swimming, some dangerous currents in the water"
Armin Grewe
"This beach is just stunning and very much worth the visit. I’d probably say it’s the nicest spot on Islay! We were lucky that the sun was out but it can get windy. The sand is lovely, the water is clear, and the views are beautiful. The drive there isn’t too long but there is a single track road for part of it, and there is parking a short walk from the beach. This is a must visit if you go to Islay"
