Reviews Summary
Maker Heights is lauded for its stunning sea views, friendly staff, and family-friendly atmosphere, with highlights including The Canteen and live music events. However, some visitors find the strict 10 PM gate closure and noise curfew restrictive for adult-focused evenings, and one review noted disappointment with litter in the non-vehicle camping area.
"I was very disappointed with the no vehicle camping area. There were huge family tents ( they couldn't have walked or cycled with all that) with so much litter around, spewing their paraphernalia from their overflowing domain. I had expected an eco friendly vibe, but this area was disgusting."

"Been coming here for over 12 years and love the place, the staff are friendly and there is even a cocktail bar and freshly made pizzas. They have live music mainly at weekends. Great for walks, best to get a membership to the Rame Head Trust to get cheaper camping. Great walks down to Kingsand and Cawsand. Great for families and to paddleboad. What’s not to like, you will not be disappointed."

"Stayed in a bell tent at the sea forts, so glamped rather than wild camped.
That being said, Sandy, the site manager was extremely helpful and friendly. As the site wasn't too busy, Sandy upgraded us to a bell tent with glorious views over Plymouth sound. The tent was really lovely with a double bed and 2 singles. Each tent comes with its own full sized solar charger/battery with 4 USB ports.
There are many personal touches such as a plant and a 22 point candelabra(bring your own tea lights).
Outside there is a decked terrace with room to relax and enjoy the view. From there, each tent has a substantial fire pit with 4 log seats surrounding it. Logs available to purchase. We just took 2 heat logs at £1.99 each. That was plenty. The area is made private with lovely Hazel weaved wind shields.
We took a telescope with the hope of seeing some clear skies. Alas that didn't happen. In fact on our second night we were treated to an unforecast thunderstorm. In our bell tent this was no problem and we rather enjoyed the little adventure. We did feel sorry for the kids in the camping field who were all in little one person tents...😳
Sandy also manages a small cafe that does delicious coffees and some basic breakfast fayre. Our only complaint, which in fairness is less a complaint than an observation, is the time they took to provide breakfast. We waited an hour. But in mitigation, I know they were caught out with numbers of customers after the overnight storm and had actually given the third member of staff the morning off. Clearly a learning curve for Sandy and her team but one I know will be utilised. Almost forgot to mention the fantastic exclusive bathrooms (4 of), all built within a storage container. A refundable deposit of £20 gets you a fob and access to hotel standard facilities. All in all a fantastic place to stay and somewhere we will most definitely be returning to in the future...."
