What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise the Manchester Jewish Museum for its fascinating stories, moving oral histories, and the stunning beauty of its Moorish-style synagogue. The year-long ticket validity and friendly staff are also frequently highlighted positives. Some wish for a wider selection of traditional Jewish food items in the cafe.
"Amazing experience with many stories about the Manchester Jews. It is a museum built adjacent to a Sephardic Jewish Synagogue, which has one of the most unique synagogue designs.
The museum side has a large collection, which details many things on the evolution of Manchester Jewry. Fascinating and some sad stories!
Also, has a very nice cafe at the entrance. I had a nice pomegranate/cranberry drink."

"Really fascinating first visit to Manchester Jewish Museum. We attended a free presentation on Jewish genealogy which helped and encouraged us a great deal. Had some delicious and refreshing drinks in the very smart and stylish cafe. The food here also sounds very interesting and I see they have won awards in the past for the cafe here. Everyone was very welcoming and friendly and the museum and synagogue was really interesting and moving to experience. Especially loved the stained glass in the synagogue and to be able to see the scrolls in the ark was a great honour. There are headphones in the museum with accounts of oral history from local Jewish families who grew up in the area and also accounts from members of the synagogue. It was very moving to me and was an emotional experience to share such a rich and important faith and culture especially now that we are living in such sad and uncertain times. Shalom!"

"Great museum and synagogue. I am not Jewish but I am a non-denominational Christian and we worship the same God.
However, He is the God of the Old Testament AND New Testament - see the Holy Bible (New King James Version for example). Our Creator is a Consuming Fire who blesses and curses, rewards and punishes, loves and hates. He is a Triune God (3 centres of consciousness in 1 Godhead) and the only God that exists. The Jews will always be His chosen people, and they will have eternal life on the New Earth with Him - if and/or when they realise that Jesus Christ is the Messiah. So, Fear God (in awesome wonder - not phobia), repent of each and every sin, and put your ongoing Faith and Trust in Jesus Christ - the Saviour of all mankind, to receive everlasting life after this vapour of an existence is over.
I loved the museum, the guides, and the friendliness of the staff."
