"A short walk from Cadover bridge over the moor, or a pleasant walk up the river from the Dewerstone car park. Fantastic views from the very top over The Valley. You might be lucky with the weather and catch one of the amazing sunsets!"

"Fantastic area for some outdoor pursuits and also some really great walking and biking. Great spot for team building, away days, scout groups, D of E and Princes Trust or for a day out with your partner or buddy/s on one of the best parts of Dartmoor. I have been heading here for years and love it.
Climbing at Dewerstone is fantastic and there are routes for all skill levels from single pitch beginner top rope with lots of good holds right through to stupidly difficult multi pitches up sheer faces with overhangs that will test most climbers (including the Dewerstone or Devil's Stone itself) and then everything in-between. Lots of spots for a bit of bouldering or scrambling too if that is your thing.
It is a fantastic place for teaching climbing and abseiling as well as orienteering around the woods and plenty of summer fun in and around the water and spots with hardware installed for rigging up zip lines or two-rope bridging across some impressive deep river cuts.
There are a couple of hostel type accommodations within a couple of miles and both have a foot path through the woods to the main crags. It doesn't cost much to stay either as a large or small group. Also loads of camping nearby and spots to park a van/camper overnight. A few B&Bs around the area.
If you are making a trip down for a few days climbing then take the opportunity to head to the 110ft high viaduct with your abseiling gear about 6 or 7 miles away (follow the cycle path NE), all the local outdoor pursuits companies use it as their grand-finale activity and it is worth it as it is so so much fun. Loads of re-enforced spots to clip on and tie off your ropes up top and then just climb over one of the 3ft steel tube safety barriers, turn around and make your way 8ft down the top of the arches and then 100ft of free fall to enjoy! It is a heck of a rush (even if you take it slow) and once at the bottom you wont be able to get back up the bank fast enough to do it again!!
There are also some cave systems near by again ranging from easy routes to advanced diving routes through some very cold dark water. There are guidelines in most and markers dotted around to get you out if you get spun around. Be wary that a couple of the larger systems are SSSI's so access may be restricted if it has been a busy year. ALWAYS sign the log with your party details, planned route and in/out times which are checked every day.
Be warned that the area has regular rolling very thick fog and I have seen it go from clear night to 5m visibility in a few minutes so try and get out of the area by dusk and make sure you have a compass and map with you if you are staying out after dark.
Enjoy!"
