Reviews Summary

Visitors appreciate the Millennium Bridge for its stunning city views and modern design, while Shakespeare's Globe offers an immersive theatrical experience. Some find the original Globe site less impactful due to its current state as a car park, requiring imagination to appreciate its historical significance.

"Nice place to see if you're a Shakespeare fan. There's not really much there, though. It is just housing now. There are some placks with historical information. The recreation is only a block away, though, so if you are going there for a show then you may as well stop by this site."

Adam Hollow

"The original location where the Globe Theatre, which first opened its doors in 1599, once stood is now identified by a plaque and a series of informative panels.
On June 29, 1613, while a "Henry VIII" performance was underway, the Globe Theatre was engulfed in flames. During the play, a theatrical cannon misfired, sparking a fire that consumed the wooden beams and thatched roof.

The theater was reconstructed in the subsequent year but was eventually demolished in 1644–45 to create space for residential buildings. Its contemporary reconstruction, known as Shakespeare's Globe, was inaugurated in 1997 with a production of "Henry V"."

Sanjay Gupta

"This site marks the location of the original Globe Theatre, distinct from the modern reproduction along the river, just a five-minute walk away. Today, it is a fenced-off car park featuring several informative plaques and a memorial marker. While nothing remains of the original structure above ground, the plaques provide fascinating insights into its history. Visiting this spot allows you to reflect on where Shakespeare once worked, but it does require a bit of imagination to fully appreciate its significance. It’s a brief but worthwhile stop for history and theatre enthusiasts alike."
