Reviews Summary

Visitors praise Mills Observatory for its free admission, incredible stargazing opportunities, and the passion of its volunteer staff. The chance to see planets and constellations through telescopes is a major highlight. However, the challenging access road with limited parking and variable opening hours are noted drawbacks. TikTokReddit

"A great spot for stargazing with no light pollution! The night sky is truly stunning here. However, it’s definitely more suitable for those driving, as the mountain path is not ideal for walking. The darkness of the small road gave me the eerie feeling of stepping into a scene from a cabin-in-the-woods movie. A fantastic place for astronomy lovers, but plan your transport accordingly!"

Junhao Pu

"Wow, what a great place. Can really only be visited at night time when it’s dark and if there are clear skies. Keep in mind that it’s not open all year round, and it’s run by volunteers and funded by donations. The drive up to the observatory is tricky, it’s on narrow paths, dimly lit and tight if trying to pass other vehicles, but there is parking for around 10 cars. You'll probably spend around 30 minutes to an hour here. The staff are always willing to talk about the exhibts and answer questions."

Daniel Maclean (Daniel)

"Love this place and glad to see it is remaining open.

Big thanks to the people who voluntarily work and set up here. I do have feedback however; it might be good to mark if equipment is set up for the public in some way, as multiple times people stood around as if to form a queue whilst we were setting up our own scope. Could help in guiding people around. Thanks!"
