Reviews Summary

Visitors praise Moel y Gamelin for its spectacular panoramic views and the rewarding feeling of reaching the summit. The Ponderosa Cafe is a popular starting point and a great spot for refreshments. While some routes are challenging, many find the effort well worth it for the scenery and relative lack of crowds compared to more famous peaks.

"Took our daughter, who is four. She lay on the ground before we had even started, but managed to get to Gamelinin the end! We would have liked to get to Morfydd, but I think we would be pushing it with her and her dad’s injured knee. Some steep climbs, but nothing dangerous. Hardly anyone on the path and lovely views of Snowdon. A great walk instead of the typical routes. Stopped at the cafe before and afterwards. A lovely day out."

Seema Kotak

"One of my favourite views in this part of Wales taking in all the surrounding mountain ranges and even a bit of sea in the distance. Well worth the 45 minute walk from The Ponderosa. It's particularly delightful at the moment with the heather in full bloom."

Ian Wright

"Route from Ponderosa too easy? Then try Rhewl, Moel y Gamelin & Moel Morfydd from Walking Britain website.
Staying at Abbey Terrace, 2km East of Rhewl, we walked to Bryn-Teg Cottages and started on Dee Valley Way from there, so ascended the other side of the wooded valley.
Bracken challenging, and the descent on Western flank of Gamelin is steep and stony. A great walk overall."
