What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Mounts Baths is praised for its beautiful Art Deco architecture and excellent facilities for fitness swimming, offering good value. However, communication regarding lesson cancellations is a significant drawback, and some visitors have reported uncomfortable experiences in the sauna.
"We’ve had a very disappointing experience. My son’s swimming lessons were canceled three times, and on two of those occasions we weren’t even informed. We had to travel 40 minutes by bus with a small child, only to find out the lesson was not happening. Since we have a subscription, we were told the money for the missed classes will not be refunded. This feels very unfair and unprofessional."

"I love this pool for swimming for fitness - it is a fantastic pool in Art Deco style built in the mid 1930s and I am grateful we have it to enjoy. The staff have always friendly, efficient and professional towards me. I went today during the morning and everywhere was clean. Sometimes during busier times people are not considerate of others, and leave areas that they have used, dirty. I think we all have a duty to treasure this wonderful swimming pool and appreciate the hard work of the staff, and clean up after ourselves using the bins provided. Reading the negative comments about the cleanliness I feel is a reaction to the behaviour of selfish patrons and is not an accurate reflection of how it is to go swimming here. I would definitely recommend for fitness swimming, for a fun splash about at a leisure pool (especially with children who cannot swim) I would recommend Danes Camp.
A £1 coin is needed for lockers, only card payments are accepted for the swimming session fee.
A welcome addition would be a spin dryer device for swimming costumes. The hairdryers are excellent and free to use which is great. Good value. I only wish swimming sessions were a bit longer."

"I was very disappointed today. I drove half an hour to bring my daughter to her scheduled swimming lesson, only to be told there was no class. Unfortunately, no one called or informed me ahead of time, which was frustrating and inconvenient. Communication needs to be improved so parents don’t waste time and travel unnecessarily.they said that this is the summer break but how could we know that if they don't let us know?"

Tailored advice for your travel style
👨👩👧 Families with Kids
If you do attend for lessons, ensure you confirm schedules directly and be prepared for potential last-minute changes. Remember to bring a £1 coin for the lockers. The Art Deco style might be interesting for older children to observe, but the primary focus seems to be on fitness swimming.

The Art Deco Charm
The ambiance created by the Art Deco design makes swimming here a more engaging experience than a standard pool. It’s a place where history meets recreation, offering a glimpse into the past while providing contemporary fitness facilities. Visitors often express gratitude for having such a well-preserved historical site available for use.
Fitness Swimming Experience
While the pool is excellent for fitness, some reviews suggest that for a more casual, family-oriented splash, other local facilities like Danes Camp might be more suitable. However, the value for money for fitness sessions is often highlighted as a key benefit.
Tips for fitness swimmers include bringing your £1 coin for lockers and being aware that swimming sessions might feel a bit short for some. Despite minor points, the overall sentiment for fitness swimming is very positive.
Navigating the Health Suite & Sauna
However, potential visitors should be aware of some negative feedback regarding the sauna experience. Reports include uncomfortable situations with other patrons making leering comments or gawking, particularly for feminine-presenting individuals or women. This aspect is a significant concern for some and might deter those seeking a purely relaxing and private sauna experience.
It's important to weigh the benefits of the sauna against these reported issues. While the facility itself may be adequate, the behavior of some users can detract from the intended relaxation.
