🍂 Take a stroll through the deep dark wood… 🍂 Orrest Head is a magical Lake District walk for families, and best during autumn! ALL the colours, crunchy leaves and cosy hot chocolate to warm you up on the sculpture trail. It’s a gentle, little leg friendly hill walk (with a buggy friendly variant), and can be started from anywhere in Windermere. 📍 𝗥𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝗽 🗺️ @ordnancesurvey routes in bio, or ...

Outdoor Exploring Family

"This is a really lovely spot. It has spectacular views over Windermere and the hill and mountains.
There's a great information board showing what you can see.
It's the first hill that Wainwright climbed when he came to the Lake District.
There are 2 routes to get to the top, one is steeper and shorter and the other easier and suitable for push chairs."

Hannah Wild

"A great place to walk. There's a fantastic view at the top. There's Gruffalo/ Stickman sculptures halfway up the hill. There's also a sculpture trail that wasn't there last time I headed up Orrest Head. We parked in a free layby. The closest ones to Orrest Head have a time limit, but the one a bit further back hasn't a time limit. Great place to visit for families."
