What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
This modern Catholic church is appreciated for its peaceful, quiet atmosphere and the helpfulness of its administrative staff, particularly for administrative requests. However, some visitors have experienced difficulties with communication when trying to organize services, leading to frustration during sensitive times.
"Sharon from the administration team was wonderfully friendly and helpful - nothing seemed too much trouble for her. When I requested my Baptism Certificate from 1971, she efficiently searched the register and promptly found it, putting my mind at ease. She kindly let me know it had been located and informed me that she will post it on to me straight away. Even though the Church of Our Lady of Grace & St Edward is not my parish, Sharon's assistance and kindness made all the difference. Thank you so much for going above and beyond to help me."

"Modern building, quiet, open during the daytime. Good place to sit quietly. Not particularly ornate inside as Catholic churches go, and a rather plain red brick building on the outside. Building next door also owned by the church and appears to house the priest. Not a huge amount of iconography inside. Stations of the cross along the walls."

"So upsetting. I’ve tried to organise a service for my father who has passed away, and after about 7 phone calls, they always promise to call back but never do. So upset with this parish, they have made this very difficult time for me even more difficult. It makes me so sad that they push people away from the church, rather than welcome and encourage people with their services."

Understanding the Architecture
This design choice contributes to its appeal as a place for personal reflection and peace. The building next door, appearing to house the priest, suggests a functional and community-oriented setup. Visitors often note the intricate architectural details that contribute to a feeling of peace, highlighting that beauty can be found in simplicity and thoughtful design.
Navigating Community Interactions
Conversely, other visitors have expressed significant disappointment, particularly when attempting to organize services for loved ones. Reports indicate instances of unreturned phone calls and a perceived lack of responsiveness, which can exacerbate an already difficult time. These experiences suggest that while the church aims to be welcoming, there can be inconsistencies in communication and service delivery. Potential visitors, especially those with specific service needs, are advised to be persistent in their communication.
