"On 8/04/2024 on our 24th anniversary; I booked the Ultimate Experience Tour, which is 3 hrs long and our tour guide Tommy was phenomenal, funny, professional, and very informative. We are big Prince's fans and I'm so thankful to have finally made the trip. It's worth it."

"Lovely old museum and its free... parked very cheaply opposite it on the street...things for kids to do... but its shutting soon for huge refurbishment hope they keep the original building....its beautiful"

"Visited for the Star Wars toy exhibitions with the family. A bit disappointed that they decided not to allow photos in the main exhibition but it was quite interesting. The kids loved the observatory and we will return one evening to see it in action. There is a side entrance for wheelchair and buggy access that enters from the car park that we missed on the way in. Lots of stairs but lifts around to make things accessible"

The Iconic Paisley Pattern
By the mid-20th century, the Paisley pattern had transcended its textile roots to become a symbol of counter-culture. It was famously embraced by the hippie movement of the 1960s and 70s, adorning everything from clothing to vehicles. John Lennon's iconic Rolls-Royce, painted with the vibrant pattern, is a testament to its cultural impact. Visiting Paisley Museum offers a chance to delve into this captivating journey, understanding how a simple motif evolved into a global fashion and cultural phenomenon. Students from the University of Glasgow have even been involved in conserving objects for future display, highlighting the ongoing connection between the pattern and the region.
Paisley Museum's Transformation
While the museum is closed for this extensive work, the anticipation for its reopening in 2026 is high. The refurbishment is not just about structural changes; it's also about reimagining how the museum's collections are presented. This includes working with archives and local artists to create engaging new displays. The goal is to create a vibrant hub that celebrates Paisley's unique heritage, from its industrial past to its artistic present, making it a must-visit destination for years to come.
Accessibility at Paisley Museum
Once inside, the museum is equipped with lifts to help navigate between floors, making the collections accessible to everyone. This thoughtful provision means that visitors can explore the diverse exhibits, from ancient artifacts to contemporary art, without facing unnecessary barriers. Even during its refurbishment, the focus on accessibility is a key consideration for its future.
