"One of the National Trust smaller properties but full of history and worth a venture. There is a car park on Chapel Road by the rugby club which offers free parking and is a short walk away. The house has three floors to explore, the volunteers are on hand to tell the story of the house and the families that lived there or there is a guide book available. The gardens are well kept and a nice peaceful spot to winder round. There is a tea room and toilets. There is also a museum across the river about Octavia Hill who helped establish the National Trust"

"My second visit (30+ years ago) and my husband's first. A really beautiful property and gardens, very well maintained. Not too big. Very knowledgeable guides on hand to answer questions. Only disappointment was that the tearoom wasn't open, but not too far to go into the town after. Would definitely recommend a visit."

"Went on a Heritage open day and had a lovely visit, the house and garden were impressive and the staff very helpful.
Visited the coffee shop and thought the prices were sensible and the space inside and outside nice and children friendly.
I have been to bigger and more impressive house, but this was someone's home, OK it was a rich someone, but size doesnt alway matter."
