The excellent breakfast and ideal location, a short walk to both Tenby town and the beach, are frequently mentioned positives. Some guests noted the lack of a lift, which could be an issue for those with mobility challenges.

"One of the best places I have stayed in along time. Rooms very comfortable. Food is excellent. Staff very friendly and helpful. From when I booked with Sue to the chef being helpful with my food allergy my experience has been exceptional. Hopefully I will visit again."

"Had a lovely 2 night stay at the Dunes. Our room was excellent with a balcony overlooking the golf course. Sue on reception was lovely and very helpful. The staff in the restaurant were very obliging especially Rhys. The only problem we had and to be honest we did know before we went and that there isn't a lift which would have been helpful as both myself and my husband have mobility issues. As it was only for a couple of nights we decided to risk it and we managed."

Doreen Brookes

"Amazing stay at this hotel. Breakfast was outstanding and so were the staff. Ideal location, quiet and just a short walk to Tenby town centre. Would definitely return to this hotel."

Exploring the Penally Dunes

The Penally Dunes are a significant ecological feature, forming a vital part of the coastal defense and supporting a unique array of plant and animal life. These aren't just sandy hills; they are a dynamic landscape shaped by wind and sea. The dominant plant here is marram grass, whose deep roots help stabilize the sand and prevent erosion. Keep an eye out for other specialized dune flora, which can include sea holly, sea bindweed, and various wildflowers depending on the season. Reddit

Walking through the dunes offers a different perspective than the beach itself. The paths are often sandy and can be uneven, so sturdy footwear is recommended. It’s a peaceful place for a stroll, offering a sense of wildness and tranquility. Remember that this is a protected area, so it's important to stick to marked paths to avoid disturbing the fragile ecosystem. Reddit

From the higher points in the dunes, you can often get excellent panoramic views of the coastline, including the nearby island of Caldey. This elevated vantage point is perfect for capturing stunning photographs, especially during the softer light of early morning or late afternoon. It’s a chance to appreciate the natural beauty of the Pembrokeshire coast in a less crowded setting than the main beach. Reddit
