Reviews Summary

Visitors rave about the absolutely breathtaking coastal views and scenic beaches, making it a worthwhile destination despite access challenges. The historical neolithic burial chamber adds a unique element of discovery. However, the lack of on-site facilities and the long walk to the beaches are noted drawbacks.

"Had a great day here. Parking was good and the weather helped. The views along the coast path are breathtaking.
Primary reason for visit was to find the neolithic burial chamber. It was overgrown but I found it and will try and set the location on google maps."

David Nurse

"Visited on a wet Tuesday afternoon but the view alone was worth the effort. A long walk down to the beach so we stayed at the top. Beware of following Google maps or satnav if driving as you're taken down a narrow dead-end road with a final turn warning you not to follow the satnav. You can see the National Trust sign, but you have to walk to this road, either from the Camp-site car park slightly further on or, better still, turn right in Penmaen in front of the Church and park just after the cattle-grid, also National Trust land. Various paths down to the beach with glorious views on the way down."

Gordon Riches

"Wonderful scenic beaches.. Difficult to access though.. No restrooms or cafes on site.. Free parking about 2 miles away."

Getting to Penmaen Burrows and Great Tor requires a bit of planning, especially regarding parking. Many visitors have found that relying solely on GPS or satnav can lead to frustrating experiences on narrow, dead-end roads. A more reliable approach, as suggested by locals and visitors, is to head towards the village of Penmaen. Look for the National Trust signs. One recommended parking spot is just after the cattle grid, on the right, in front of the church. Alternatively, the car park near the campsite is also a viable option. Reddit

Be aware that even from these recommended parking areas, there's often a walk involved to reach the main attractions like the beaches or the coastal path. This walk, however, is part of the experience, offering increasingly beautiful views as you descend. It's essential to wear appropriate footwear, as the terrain can be uneven. Reddit

Visitors should be prepared for the descent and ascent, and it's advisable to check tide times if you plan to spend time on the sand. The effort is consistently described as worthwhile for the glorious views encountered along the way. Reddit
