What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise St. Mary's Church for its beautiful, serene atmosphere and well-maintained grounds, making it an idyllic spot for reflection and historical exploration. However, some note that the graveyard's upkeep could be improved, with fallen or overgrown headstones detracting from the overall impression for those seeking to visit family plots.
"I hate to not give a higher review to a church, especially as the building itself is lovely. You can see from my photos it is a rather small building and is quite older, however it is clear the church and the immediate grounds are maintained to a high standard and look very nice. The issue for myself is that the graves sounding the church are very dilapidated. Many of the headstones have fallen down with the ground in some places disturbed and bricks and mortar laying strewn in some areas. For me this puts the star rating lower than others may have done but many people look highly on the church as the final resting place of their loved ones, and if all the headstones are damadhed or knocked over it does not give a good impression.
If this was rectified and the graveyard improved I feel this would be a 5* area."
