Reviews Summary

Visitors rave about the spectacular waterfalls and the unique triple-bridge formation, calling it a 'mesmerizing' natural wonder. The challenging, steep steps are a significant part of the experience, offering great exercise and rewarding views, though they require good footwear and fitness. Some find the additional cost for the Punch Bowl viewpoint essential for the best photos.

"A beautiful place to visit. The three bridges are absolutely fascinating, and the waterfalls and gorge are spectacular.

You start at the entrance and there is a circular route to follow round. There are lots of steep steps both down and up, so a certain level of fitness is required. But these are part of the fun and lead to some great viewpoints. You definitely need good footwear. These steps must get slippery in rain and the autumn.

A lovely place to spend and hour or so, especially if you come by the steam train and enjoy the cafe."

Jon Case

"Beautiful views and fantastic waterfalls to visit. Very steep steps down and back up, many of which are slate rock and can get quite slippy so good walking footwear definitely recommended. There is however a much shorter easier walk that doesn't go down to bottom of waterfalls for those that aren't comfortable with the steep steps."

Christine Felthouse

"Devils bridge is beautiful. Went on a Sunday, not many people were there. Did both the 45min walk and the 10 min and it is worth doing both. The waterfalls are amazing, it was a lovely experience."

The Legend of Devil's Bridge

Devil's Bridge, or Pontarfynnon, is steeped in legend. The current stone bridge is the third to stand on this site, built in 1901. The first bridge, dating back to the 12th century, is said to have been built by the devil himself in exchange for a cow. Legend has it that a woman outsmarted him by sending her cat across first, thus avoiding payment. TikTok The middle bridge was built in 1753, and the modern one sits above it, creating a unique architectural and historical marvel. The dramatic setting of the gorge and the powerful waterfalls only add to the mystique. Reddit
